Chapter Seven

"STOP REQUESTED" sounded over the stereo system when Philip pulled down on the yellow cord. The only people on the bus were Philip, a man with groceries, a woman with a child about the age of 7, and the bus driver. Philip's pulse was still going pretty hard by the time he had gotten home but it was still pretty high. The bus came to a halt and Philip got up, thanked the bus driver and began to walk home. Once the bus was farther down the road, Philip all out sprinted home as fast as he could. He was intent on not being caught again. He slammed in the garage door code, threw himself under the door, close the garage and was inside. Safe, thought Philip. He went around the house keeping the windows open, as not to seem he was hiding there, but still locked everything to be safe. He then went into the lower floor of his house and close those blinds as he still did not wish to be seen. Then before he knew it. He was asleep.

"Philip! Wake up! This is the last time I will call you! You have to take the bus i'm not driving you!" It was his mother. No, thought Philip. Philip opened his eyes and groggily rolled over to look at his clock. 6:25. He had 20 minuets to shower, dress, eat, pack his bag, and get to the bus stop for school. Philip flung himself off the bed and into the bathroom. Once he got out it was 6:32. I need to hurry up, and he hurried into his bedroom to get changed and pack his bag. Once finished he ran down the stairs to eat. His mother made him pancakes and left a plate for him. He sat down and started to eat. he looked over at his phone and saw the time. 6:45. Two minuets to get to the bus stop. He eat the last of his food and was out the door and still trying to get his shoes on. "Hey! Philip! Didn't think you would make it." said Richard. Richard was a odd kid. He had a head shaped like a watermelon and the agility of a hammock. "Yea, me either." replied Philip. "Close one, heres the bus now." said Richard, and sure enough the bus pulled up to the stop. Richard got on first, then Philip. Then Philip saw it. The bus drivers hat bore the way to familiar phrase, The Dog Barks At Midnight.". "Are ya gunna sit down or not kid I don't got all day." barked the driver. "Yea... Sorry." He sat down, put his headphones in and fell asleep.

"Philip! We are here, wake up!". It was Richard. "Yea, thanks for waking me." thanked Philip. "Its fine, I do it all the time." said Richard. Philip got up and when exiting the bus avoided looking at the hat. He had decided to just try and forget everything that had happened. Then he remembered. He had Parker first period. The man the had attempted to capture him for god knows what. No no no no no no, thought Philip. Then it happened. The intercom crackled to life and voice sounded. "Good morning and please excuse the interruption. We wish to inform you about the recent disapeance of ex-principal Mr.McNaughtan. We inform you of this event as to stop fallacies surrounding it and if any students know any information regarding this matter, please report it to the office. Thank you." and the voice faded. Then the bell rang to for kids to get to class. Wish me luck, thought Philip, and he went to class not knowing what he would be facing...

Chapter Six

"What do we do with it? If we disobey him we are all dead." said Parker. "Quite freaking out Parker, it will work out." replied Sutherland. "Sutherland, does it look like we can calm down? Our lives are on the line here. Do you get that?" said Brienholt. "Yes, I get that but it will work out trust me, it has before and will again, we just have to get it perfect. Once they are shipped we are home free." said Sutherland. "If you are so confident tell me how are we going to pull off this mad stunt then?" said Parker, quite agitated, "I agree with Parker, how do we do this?" said Breinholt. "Does it look like I know? We have almost a hundred people for this one problem, I'm pretty sure that we can take care of it and all of us can finally sleep and not be worried about going the next day and having him kill you."

Then it happened. It went by so fast that Philip didn't realize what had taken place until it was too late. He had slipped of his perch, kicked out a waiter's legs causing him to crash into a table sending the platter of food and drinks flying everywhere. Everyone in the restaurant went quiet and looked directly at Philip. Philip turned to look at the table of teachers and all of them were staring right at him. Then Philip made eye contact with Parker, and not unlike the dementors from Harry Potter, something about staring into Parkers eyes sucked all the warmth right out of Philip. Time to go, thought Philip, so he got up, shoved over the waiter once again, and the waiter collided with the teachers table in a fit of swearing. Philip shoved more people out of the way, but not nearly as hard, as he was just trying to stay alive and not injure more people. He finally got to the door and slammed it open.

The air was cold and bit at Philip, but he had to keep running. He had no idea where to go to get away. He took a right from RedRock and went towards the townhouses as it seemed like a good spot to lose the teachers because there were many turns and alleys. He began running and looked back to see Parker running after him and the other two teachers going the opposite direction with what seemed like walkie-talkies. Can't stop, keep going and BREATHE were the only things that Philip was thinking. He turned a corner onto a side street behind the Petco and assorted shops and in the middle of the road was a car. In the car, was Mr.Coleman, Philips Comp-Tech teacher. "Not so fast there Philip." Coleman said menacingly. "NOT YOU! I LIKE YOU!" yelled Philip as he narrowly jumped past Coleman's car. Philip kept running and Coleman started to back up his car to chase him but when Coleman had finally got his car in gear and started going again, Philip had disappeared. Coleman reported what had happened in the walkie-talkie and turned around to go back. Hmph, thought Philip, cant even catch me.

Little did the teachers know Philip had turned a corner and jumped into the city bus that happened to be right there just for Philip. He got on and the bus took off. He could see Coleman flustered at the sudden "disappearance" of Philip. I've just got to go home, lock the doors and lay low, thought Philip.

Chapter Five

Philip did not know what to think. He had been given lots of information that it made so much sense but then it made none at all. Without looking back, Mr.McNaughtan got up and left. Philip did not know how he felt about this. Did McNaughtan really even care about Philip, or was he just lying and really working against him. With all the new information Philip was confused in what he should do. Should he really trust McNaugtan? Or should he be on his own, a "lone wolf" and really try to figure out what is going on by himself. He didn't know. So Philip stayed in the movie theater until the film was over, but he did not watch the film, he was deep in his own thought.

Next thing he knew, people were getting up, so Philip fell into suit and did the same. The transition from the dark theater to the bright hallway was hard on his eyes, and after blinking a few times he felt better. He looked down at his watch and saw the time, 8:46. It was quite late. What to do now, thought Philip. Philip walked past the concession stands and then, out of nowhere, he was grabbed and pulled to the side. Instinctively he tried to defend himself but realized McNaughtan was the one who pulled him.

"What are you doing?" questioned Philip, because not only had McNaughtan he scared him but he had attracted the attention of many other people in the theater. "Three of them. Across the street. We have to get out." replied a quite flustered McNaughtan. "What are you talking about?" whispered back Philip. "Brienholt, Parker, and Sutherland. They saw me and know where I am. I will cause a distraction and you try to get into the Red Rock resturant and listen to the conversation. Thats where they are." said McNaughtan, "But.." "DONT ARGUE WITH ME, WE HAVE ONE SHOT!" forcefully whispered McNaughtan. So Philip did as he was told. He was supposed to go out the side door and sneak around and into the Red Rock restaurant.

So then it began. McNaughtan made the huge seen out side the theater of accidentally falling into a table where someone was eating, and Philip made a break for it. He threw open the doors and ran as fast and low as he could, across the street and got to the door of the restaurant. "Hi, how may we help you?" asked the waitress. "Just a table for one please." and Philip was led to a table, "Where is the bathroom?" asked Philip. "Just over there, and take a right.", "Thanks!" said Philip and the woman walked away. Perfect, thought Philip. The bathroom was right next to the table in which the teachers were located. So he got up, and began to walk over to the teachers and very inconspicuously perched himself on the window sill and a table, and proceeded to listen in on their conversation...

Chapter Four

Philip woke that morning at around 5 am because of nerves and excitement. He was finally going to find out what has been happening. He was once again scared. He got up, got dressed, and went down stairs to eat breakfast. His parents weren't home, and Philip thought they must have gone to work and there was nothing wrong with that, they do it all the time. He had nothing to do till 6 pm so he just stayed at home all day catching up on chores, playing video games, and doing some homework. -- The time finally came. Its was 4:15 pm and the bus came at 25 after. He walked to the bus stop, waited, and when the bus came he got on. After riding the bus for about 40 minuets he got off at Red Stone. Philip was nervous. He set off to the movie theater. He went in, bought a ticket and went into the Batman movie to, hopefully, find out what has been happening.

It was dark, and Philip counted the rows and seats and sat exactly in the middle, cause why not he has nothing to lose. He sat down, the chair was actually comfortable. A couple other people came in and then one man, dressed in all winter clothing, came up to the 5th row and sat exactly next to Philip. This is him thought Philip. "Im glad you got my note, I was scared you wouldn't as this is the only time I will ever be able to speak with you." said the man. "Who are you?" asked Philip, but this time he did not feel scared, he was confident. "You know me Philip." and with that the man took his hood off. "Mr.McNaughtan!" said Philip very surprised. "Yes Philip, and I believe its time that you know what has been happening." said a rather grave McNaughtan.

"It all started a while ago, about two years. The other teachers decided to believe in one man. The Werd. He was the reason I had to leave last year. All of them are working to together. I cant tell you what they are doing because I don't know, but what I do know is that when they want someone gone, they will do it. You, Philip, are on their hit list. I don't know why but you are and it seems that you are the key to all of this and that you can stop what ever their doing. all I can say Philip is that you need to stay alive, no matter what happens, you have to stop them with your powers." finished McNaughtan. "What powers? I don't have any powers, if you mean to say I am like SpiderMan or Harry Potter your wrong. I don't have any powers." said Philip in retort. "Trust me Philip, you are the key to all of this, you are the element to their destruction. You must stop them, you must stop The Werd."

Chapter Three

The car slowed down. The man finally spoke, "Time to get out". The seat belts finally let go, but Philip had no need to talk because he was pushed out of the car. He hit the pavement on his hands and knees cutting his pants and palms. The car sped out of the lot and onto the road. Philip got up and looked around, and he realized he was on the other side of town. Looking around he saw he was out side of the vet "Powder Paws". There were still no people anywhere. Then, out of the corner of his eye he saw it. A person. Philip got up and hurried over to the door and pulled, but it wouldn't open. "Hey!" yelled Philip, but the person did not even flinch let alone look up. "HEY!" yelled Philip again this time much louder and again, no response from the person. Philip turned around and to desperate measure, grabbed a rock and like the chair threw it at the glass window but when the rock hit it just bounced off.

Philip didn't know what to do. The only person was in there and he couldn't even get in. He took a step back and looked around. It was just as it had been when he was thrown from the car and the person inside seemed to be still busy working. He looked at the sign, but to his surprise had the phrase 'Don't be Rude Philip'. He blinked and it said Powder Paws again. At this point Philip was truly scared with all the events that had taken place in the past 2 days, with him getting hit by a car, people saying the same phrase, then no people at all, and then a car with seatbelt that seemed to have a mind of their own. Philip sat down on the curb and thought to himself. What is really happening here? Is it a dream, no it cant be a dream, you know what a dream feels like and this is definitely real. Maybe I need some rest. Yea, thats it. So Philip laid down on the sidewalk and closed his eyes. Why did the sign say don't be rude? Maybe I shouldn't have thrown the rock. Please open? Thought Philip. Click. The door had opened. Philip had no idea how he had got it to open but he did and he ran over to the door threw it open and went inside.

Philip scared the woman at the desk quite badly when he burst in the veterinary clinic. "Whats wrong? Are you okay?" asked the woman. "What is going on, there are no people anywhere and you are the first person I've seen all day what is happing!"asked a quite panicked Philip. "What do you mean? There are people everywhere its so busy in Park City today, look outside! Have you been doing something you arn't supposed to? Should I call your parents?" asked the woman. "No, i'm fine" and Philip turned around to a very busy parking lot with people walking every which way and cars trying to find a parking place, but just ten minuets ago there was no one. "Im sorry for scaring you im just tired I guess" said Philip. "You should go home its already Six o'clock at night. Anyways if you don't have an emergency you will have to leave soon." said the woman, "Im sorry and thanks for your time" and with that Philip went outside. He still couldn't believe that there were so many people everywhere. What is going on, thought Philip then he saw her. His science teacher, Mrs.Brienholt staring at him through the crowd petting her dog, not moving, not blinking. Philip ran. He was scared with everything that happened and he just wanted to get home. While walking it got cold. He stuck his hand in his coat to find a tiny scrap of paper that read, 'Meet me at the 6:30 showing of Batman in Red Stone and I will explain everything.'

Chapter Two

When, what seemed like an eternity, Philip woke up in the hospital. It was dead silent. Philip couldn't hear a single noise, not one at all. Philip was in his own cloths, not a hospital gown. Weird, thought Philip, not a single person in the hospital. He hit the button next to his bed to signal the nurse, but no one came. He got up looked around and saw that everything he had during the accident was either on him or in his bag next to the bed. He got up, and began to run. The only sound in the hospital was the pitter patter of Philips feet on the linoleum as he was racing through the hospital. Doors. He saw the doors that led outside. The problem was that they were motion sensor doors, and when Philip was in range of the sensor nothing happened. "COME ON!" screamed Philip in a panic. With not one option left, he grabbed a chair in the waiting room and with all of his force hurtled the chair at the glass of the door. It was like a dream. Time seemed to slow, the chair in motion moving towards the door. Philip could almost feel the world around him. The calm of the hospital, the silence, darkness, but then it all fell apart when the chair hit the glass. The noise snapped Philips attention back to one goal, survival. He knew he wasn't in any danger, but the fact that nobody was here and the silence and calm of the hospital was so frightening to him that he had to get out. And he did. One more door to get through, so he picked up the chair and with all his remaining strength he hurtled the chair once more at the second door. This time it was like it was supposed to, no dream sequence, no thought. The chair hit the glass and the same noise sounded, with the glass tinkling to the ground. The cold wind blew into the hospital catching Philip with surprise. Freedom. It was inches from his face, but did he really want it? He could stay here and be nice and cozy, where as it was cold and harsh out there. Then the car showed up.

"Are you Philip?" asked the man in the car. "Who are you?" forcefully replied Philip to the man. "John, Im here to give you a ride. Its my job. You can trust me, you don't have to come, but i'm just saying I strongly advise coming with me". The thoughts running threw Philips head were dizzying, the things that could happen if he got in, but if the man was right and he stayed. It could be bad. And without knowing he got in the car. "Where are we going?" asked Philip. The driver was silent. "WHERE ARE WE GOING!" shouted Philip in a panic. The seat belts went out, grabbed him and pulled him into the seat, hard. "WHAT IS HAPPENING! WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS!" screamed Philip, but a belt went around his head and covered his mouth, muting him. They pealed out of the hospital roundabout quite fast, and at a very fast pace, proceeded to get to the freeway. On the way Philip realized that not only were there no people on the fields, no cars in the lots, no cars on the roads or freeway, but no people anywhere.

Chapter One

It was a crowded day in the city, and Philip Durstan was walking home from school. Philip was an ordinary boy, with a ordinary life, ordinary friends, and ordinary everything. Philip lived in Park City, Utah and went to school at Treasure Mountain Junior High. It all started one day when Philip was walking home from school, its a was a peaceful day out. No clouds, birds chirping, sunny, people were happy, that was until the car came. It was out of no where, when a truck ran the red light, collided with a little Prius, causing the Prius to go spinning of onto the sidewalk hitting Philip a good 5 ft into the air. It all happened so fast people around didn't realize what happened until they saw Philip laying on the ground with blood all over him out cold.

Pain. Lots of pain. "Ahh Philip you are awake! This is very good news!" said some voice in the room. A doctor, it was a doctor. There was a window on the left of the bed, and outside was the ice rink. I was in the hospital. The doctor left and for about 10 minuets there was no one but Philip in the room. This time a nurse came in and told Philip he had a visitor, "He was very worried so when he found out you were awake he came as soon as he could. Here he is now." And at that moment Mr.Parker entered the room. Philip was really confused now, what had happened that was so bad that his english teacher came to see him in the hospital. "Whats going on Mr.Parker, why are you here what happened?" said Philip almost yelling, "Calm down Philip, its alright Ill explain." And once Mr.Parker had explained that Philip got hit by a car and was knocked out for almost 2 weeks, he had to leave. So Mr.Parker got up and left, but the he turned in the door way and said, "The DOG barks at midnight." and swiftly left. "Hey! Wait, what does that mean!" yelled Philip after him but he had gone. The nurse came back and told him he had to get some rest, and while getting him medicine she too said, "The DOG barks at midnight." Then before anything happened Philip was out once again.
