Chapter Nine

Room 42, thought Philip. What is so special about this room? He had no idea. Room 42 was just a copy room, a place for teachers to go and make copies of papers for their class. There was also two desks in the room, but besides that and the copiers absolutely nothing. The one problem that Philip thought of was that they are always locked. The teachers kept the copy rooms locked so that students don't go into them and make copies or someone steals a machine. Philip thought about going to ask Ms.Alp if she could unlock the door but then the bus stopped at his stop. He and Richard got up and off the bus. "Bye Philip!" shouted Richard from the other side of the street, "Yea, bye" said Philip and turned up his own driveway. He put in the garage code on the panel, waited while the door slowly creaked open, and went inside. "Hello?" shouted Philip. No answer. Home alone, thought Philip. He threw his stuff down on the couch turned on the tv and sat down. He pulled the key out of his pocket for further examination. There was a bit of candy left on it and he wiped it off, revealing something he had not seen before. The word 'prophetiae' was etched onto the blade of the key.

What does that mean, thought Philip. He had thought about all the possible things it could mean, and attempted to translate it. When he put it in the computer it kept coming up with a book entitled Prophetae Merlini, which was created around 1150 and was in latin. I doubt this is what it is referring to. Philip kept searching the internet for another good while when his mother finally arrived home. "Philip? Im home!" yelled his mother. "Hey mom, down here!" shouted Philip back. "Hey sweetie, good day at school?" asked his mother while walking down the stairs toward him. "Yea but I have a question. What does prophetiae mean?" asked Philip. "I dont know, what is it from?" asked his mother. "Oh it came up in our social studies book and when I googled it, all that comes up is some book that was written a long time ago." said Philip. "Yea I really don't know what it means, maybe your father might when he gets home, you should ask him. For now how about you keep working and I will start with diner." said his mother. "Okay, thanks mom!" and his mom turned and walked back up the stairs.
